Donegal man, Kieran Murray, is the WORLD CHAMPION in the 5km road race (30-39 years). Carlow man, Tony Gartland, came away with silver in the 5km road race (50-59 years). Two excellent performances from two great athletes!
Kieran Murray, current European Champion over 5km on the road, stepped up to take on the world in the event and he has walked away as CHAMPION! His huge dedication to training paid off with a massive PB of 18 minutes 13 seconds.
Not to be outdone, Games veteran, Tony Gartland, has added to his impressive haul of medals from the 5km road race over the years.
It was an amazing experience to share with the two guys and Peter Heffernan stood into Harry Ward’s rather big shoes and took on the role of coach and motivator for the day – he pulled out all the Harry classics such as ‘Run fast and it will be over quicker!’
Both guys are buzzing and looking forward to more events during the week.
