John is a kidney transplant recipient from Westmeath but living in London and he will be competing in the 50-59 age category in the following events:
- Cycling – 20km Road Race
- Cycling – 5km time Trial
- Cycling – 30km Road Race
John Connell is a native of Mullingar where many of his family still reside including his kidney donor sister Frances. He is now living and working in London.
His work as an IT consultant has taken him all over the world and he has lived in host countries of previous World Transplant Games events, Australia and South Africa, and joined Transplant Team Ireland when they competed on both occasions. He also took part in the previous European Transplant & Dialysis Sports Championships when they were held in Krakow, Poland in 2014.
At the forthcoming European Championships in Finland he will compete in cycling events including the 5km Time Trial and the 20km Road Race in the 50-59 year old age category.
