Jack O’Brien – Meath

Jack O’Brien received a living donor kidney transplant in 2005, aged just two years old, from his mother Cassandra. He resides in Navan, Co. Meath.

Jack will be competing in this year’s World Transplant Games in the 15-17 years category in the following events:

  • Darts Singles
  • Track & Field – Long Jump
  • Track & Field – 200m

This will be Jack’s first time attending the World Transplant Games. He has previously attended the British Transplant Games as a juvenile, winning two Gold and two Silver medals last year.

Supporting Jack this year, as always, will be his parents, younger sister Maisy and his grandad Gerry. He is looking forward to an enjoyable games and giving it his best shot.

Talking about Team Ireland, Jack says, “Everyone is very welcoming and support each other in every event. There is a huge sense of togetherness starting with team manager Colin and the famous Harry Ward, team captain.

‘I’m looking forward to spending time with other athletes who have gone through a similar experience and seeing how well everyone is.”
