Paul, a kidney transplant recipient, is one of the most senior members of Transplant Team Ireland.
Paul said, “were it not for the kidney transplant I received many years ago I might not be alive today and would not be able to enjoy seeing all my children grow up and be here for my grandchildren. I was sick all through my forties and because of my illness which sapped my energy levels it was a difficult time for myself and and my wife, Rose, raising a large young family. By the time I was fifty I commenced dialysis treatment. I will always be grateful to my donor for giving me the opportunity to enjoy living. Taking part in Transplant Sport is a way of showing my sincere gratitude.”
Paul has travelled and taken part in numerous European and World Transplant Games with Rose always close by to cheer him on.
