Philip Kavanagh – Wicklow

Philip is  from Arklow Co Wicklow, he got a Liver transplant in Winter 2008 and he will be competing in the 60-69 years of age category in the following events:

  • Darts Singles
  • Golf
  • Petanque Singles
  • 800m Track & Field

Philip is a retired scientist, married with three grownup children. His main hobby has been Golf in Arklow Golf Links where he was Captain in 1988 and President in 1993. Thanks to the Transplant Team Ireland he started Running and has taken part in several Run For A Life events. Philip won a silver medal in the 2010 European Transplant Games in Golf and is looking forward to partaking in this years Games.

‘Thanks to my donor I am able to partake in these Games and I am grateful and proud to be able to represent Ireland in promoting Donor awareness’.

It affords me an opportunity to promote organ donation through visible healthy participation in sport.

‘The games are a great social occasion and I look forward to meeting new and old friends. To come home with a medal would be nice!!’
